In March 2021, Stand With a Girl Initiative in partnership with Strong Enough Girls’ Empowerment Initiative was selected among the Gates Foundation Generation Equality Forum Youth Grantees and was awarded a one-year grant to promote Gender Equality in Nigeria.
This brought about the emergence of 36 adolescent girls in Nigeria under the Girl Advocates for Gender Equality (GAGE) Project. These 36 girls representing girls in their diversities are champions of Gender Equality through female mentorship.
In June, 2021, Stand with a Girl (SWAG) Initiative in partnership with Strong Enough Girls’ Empowerment Initiative held an orientation and capacity building on advocacy, leadership, and Gender roles for the selected 36 girls and their chaperones/guardians.
These led to the development of an advocacy plan of action which they will run and act with in the coming months.
These girls have been fully trained and empowered, and they are ready to reshape and transform Nigeria as they lead and represent girls in their diversities.
We look forward to a positive shift in gender norms at home, community, subnational, national and global levels that promote equitable access to girls’ education, health and wellbeing.
