Stand With A Girl (SWAG) Initiative is a registered youth led organisation dedicated to ensuring that every girl in Nigeria no matter where she is born or found is empowered to fulfill her maximum potential.

We empower girls to meaningfully participate in decision-making processes and programs affecting them. We focus on Education, Sexual and Reproductive Health & Rights (SRHR) and Empowerment.
SWAG initiative is implementing the Stand with a Girl Education Project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nigeria, with support from Empower.

The primary goal of the project is to enhance the livelihoods, health, and education of Internally Displaced Girls in FCT, Nigeria, through mentorship and sponsorship.

Over a one year period, SWAG initiative aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. Increase the enrollment and retention of 10 internally displaced girls aged 10 to 24 in schools.

2. Enhance the literacy, numeracy, life skills and Vocational Skill including knowledge of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), of 60 out of school girls through mentorship training.

3. Promote support and ownership for girls’ education, health, and livelihoods from community leader and decision makers through high level advocacy.

This project seeks to reduce the educational and life skills gap for adolescent girls living in internally displaced persons camps by establishing “Safe Spaces,” which are mentor-led groups. These Safe Spaces have been proven to be effective in delaying early marriages by keeping girls in school.

Within these spaces, adolescent girls can connect with their peers, acquire essential life skills such as life, literacy, and numeracy skills, and receive the support they need to bridge academic learning gaps.
