Overview of The Project

GIRLS LEADING CHANGE PROJECT (GLC) supported by GLOBAL NETWORK OF YOUNG PEOPLE LIVING WITH HIV UNDER THE GENDER EQUALITY FUND aims to strengthen 5000 adolescent girls and young women’s (AGYW) leadership skills to access, utilize and champion integrated adolescent & youth friendly services at conflict affected areas and rural communities in Kaduna State.

The project plans to scale up access to integrated youth-friendly health services, including sexual and reproductive health (SRH), HIV, TB, and malaria; to address individual, social and structural barriers through mentorship and coaching of service providers, value clarification sessions, social mobilization to improve health seeking behaviour amongst AGYW, and promoting privacy and accessibility through girl-led community engagements.

The project will also leverage and strengthen existing platforms for AGYW from conflict affected areas and rural communities to lead in designing, implementing and providing feedback on adolescent responsive health programming at local governments and state levels.

Goal

Adolescent girls and young women benefit from rights-based and gender transformative laws, policies, practices and programmes, resulting in a reduction in HIV, TB and Malaria incidence and improvements in our broader health, well-being and rights.
